Austin Richard Post, widely known as Post Malone, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor. He is recognized for seamlessly blending hip-hop, pop, R&B, trap, and country in his music. His stage name originated from a rap name generator that incorporated his birth name. Malone began his music career in 2011 and gained mainstream attention with his 2015 breakout single White Iverson, which peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Signing with Republic Records, he released his debut album Stoney in 2016, which reached number 4 on the Billboard 200 and produced the diamond-certified hit Congratulations featuring Quavo.
His second album, Beerbongs & Bentleys, released in 2018, debuted at number 1, broke multiple streaming records, and featured the chart-topping singles Rockstar with 21 Savage and Psycho with Ty Dolla Sign. The album was also nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards. In 2018, Malone collaborated with Swae Lee on Sunflower for the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack. The track became the highest-certified song in RIAA history, achieving double diamond status (20× platinum). It later appeared on his third album, Hollywood’s Bleeding, released in 2019, which marked his second number 1 album and earned another Album of the Year Grammy nomination. The album's lead single, Circles, spent 61 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, making it his fourth number 1 hit. His fourth and fifth albums, Twelve Carat Toothache in 2022 and Austin in 2023, both peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200. Twelve Carat Toothache delivered hit singles like I Like You (A Happier Song) with Doja Cat and One Right Now with The Weeknd, while Austin leaned into pop-rock, featuring the top-15 hit Chemical. In 2024, he achieved two more Billboard Hot 100 number 1s—a guest feature on Taylor Swift's Fortnight and his country-pop debut I Had Some Help with Morgan Wallen, the lead single from his sixth album, F-1 Trillion. The album, further exploring country influences, became his third number 1 on the Billboard 200. With over 80 million records sold,
Post Malone ranks among the best-selling music artists of all time. He has won eleven Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, six MTV Video Music Awards, and received eighteen Grammy nominations. He also holds several Billboard chart records, including being the first solo artist to top both the Rap Airplay and Adult Contemporary charts. His hit Circles holds the record for the longest climb, 41 weeks, to number 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart by a solo artist. As of 2025, Malone has achieved a historic milestone, holding the record for most diamond-certified songs, with nine to his name.
