Lynyrd Skynyrd is an American rock band that was formed in Jacksonville. The group has long been on the music scene and has had a successful career throughout their time together. Although the band has had some tragic events happen, including the unexpected deaths of some of their members, they were still triumphant over their adversities and pulled through to the front of rock bands from their generation. From the many awards and recognitions they've received, their biggest achievement was probably their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

      Lynyrd Skynyrd Background

Lynyrd Skynyrd was most popular in the 70s for their work in rock and roll music. The group has seen many members come and go, but their current lineup consists of Gary Rossington on the guitar, Michael Cartellone on drums, Peter Keys on the keyboard, Keith Christopher on bass, Mark Matejka with backing vocals, Rickey Medlocke playing the guitars, and lastly, Johnny Van Zant as the lead vocalist. The group got started in music in the 60s, and by the time the 70s rolled around, they had already gained a substantial following and had headlined several local and national music events.

      Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Greatest Hits

A band with a career as expansive as Lynyrd Skynyrd has several great hits up their sleeves. Some of their best singles are "Sweet Home Alabama", and “Free Bird". Their albums are also critically acclaimed, with the most memorable being Second Helping, Street Survivors, Last of a Dying Breed, Gods & Guns and Edge of Forever.
