Alice Cooper, born Vincent Damon Furnier on February 4, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, is a legendary American rock musician widely credited as the pioneer of shock rock. Known for his theatrical performances that blend horror, vaudeville, and rock music, Cooper has left an indelible mark on the music industry.
Emerging in the late 1960s, Alice Cooper first gained attention with his band’s breakout album *Love It to Death* (1971), featuring the hit single "I'm Eighteen." The group’s theatrical stage shows—complete with guillotines, electric chairs, and fake blood—shocked audiences and redefined live rock performances. Hits like *School's Out* (1972) and *Billion Dollar Babies* (1973) cemented their place in rock history.
In 1975, Cooper embarked on a solo career with the concept album *Welcome to My Nightmare,* a defining moment in his evolution as an artist. His raspy voice, dark lyrics, and penchant for the macabre influenced countless artists in genres ranging from metal to punk.
A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee (2011), Cooper continues to tour and release music, captivating fans with his unique mix of theatricality and hard rock. Beyond music, he is a passionate golfer, a radio host, and an advocate for charity, proving his staying power as a cultural icon.
